Welcome!
The WSO exists to enable the young and not so young to experience the excitement and enjoyment of playing in a full Orchestra.
Meeting every Monday evening from 7:45pm during term time this amateur Orchestra tackles a wide and varied range of works. But this is not just a rehearsal Orchestra! Concerts are held in and around the Walsall Borough three or four times a year.
Whether you play or listen, the Walsall Symphony Orchestra has something to offer you!
History
Walsall Symphony Orchestra has a history dating back to the autumn of 1959 when, as the Old Marians' Orchestra, it was founded by Chad Jackson with former pupils of Queen Mary's Grammar School in Walsall.
Links with QMGS gradually became more tenuous and, in 1991, it changed its name to Walsall Symphony Orchestra. Over the years it has provided the opportunity for many musicians, both young and old, to share the pleasure of playing in an orchestra.
It now involves instrumental players from all over the Walsall Borough and beyond, of varying ages and occupations, who share a common love of instrumental music.
